Scott Rieker Named Semi-Finalist in American Prize for Composition

Scott Rieker (DMA, ‘19) was named a semi-finalist in the American Prize for Composition, in the Choral Music division for his setting of five poems by former US Poet Laurate, Ted Kooser, entitled “Ted Kooser Suite.” The composition is for a SATB chorus, string quartet, piano, trumpet, and speaker. This juried competition strives to showcase the best in American music. Finalists and winners will be named later this spring. A performance of the Ted Kooser Suite can be heard on Rieker’s website.
