Sharon Lavery conducts for “the Future is Female” concert event

USC Thornton faculty member and resident conductor Sharon Lavery recently led the Hollywood Chamber Orchestra in performance at the historic Wiltern Theatre for the second annual The Future is Female concert event. Organized by KCRW in association with Live Nation and The Alliance for Women Composers, the concert featured music by 12 women composers, including original scores for film and television, as well as several premieres.

Featured composers included ASKA, Tangelene Bolton, Cindy O’Connor, Germaine Franco, Mandy Hoffman, Tamar-kali, Ronit Kirchman, Tori Letzler, Heather McIntosh, Emily Rice, Perrine Virgile-Piekarski, and Jessie Weiss. The Hollywood Chamber Orchestra also included many alumni of USC Thornton’s Strings and Winds & Percussion programs.
