Throwback Thursday: USC Thornton Opera in 1953

To celebrate the opening of USC Thornton Opera’s newest production, “Il viaggio a Reims,” we’ve uncovered this picture of students performing the opera “Volpone” in 1953. The production served as the opera’s world premiere. At the time, the Daily Trojan noted it was the second time a world premiere had been staged by “the opera workshop of the School of Music.”
