The Kinetic Winds to be featured in Mammoth Lakes concert

The Kinetic Winds quintet, which includes five USC Thornton students, will be the featured ensemble at the Eastern Sierra Symphony’s fall concert in Mammoth Lakes on Saturday, November 4th. Led by bassoonist and GCRT candidate Amber Wyman (MM ’16), the quintet includes clarinetist and master’s student Sergio Coelho (GCRT ’16), oboist and DMA candidate Chris Fujiwara, horn player and DMA candidate Sean Holmes (MM ’17), and flutist and GCRT candidate Emma McCartney (MM ’17).

The ensemble will perform quintets by Gustav Holst, Eugene Bozza, Igor Stravinsky, Jacques Ibert and Paquito D’Rivera at the Mammoth Lakes concert, which takes place Saturday at 7:30PM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Wyman and Coelho have previously visited the community to work with local music students, thanks to a grant from Mono Arts Council.

Coached by Winds & Percussion faculty member Judith Farmer, the Kinetic Winds are currently finalists in the USC Thornton Chamber Competition.
