USC Thornton’s progressive curriculum highlighted in The Chronicle of Higher Education

In a recent article, The Chronicle of Higher Education cited USC Thornton’s progressive curriculum in integrating popular music into its core curriculum, which “offers the prospect not only of making significant advances in musical education, diversity, and inclusion, but also of protecting and preserving the rich accomplishments of the American music-school tradition.” The article went on to commend Thornton’s forward-looking vision: “A few top schools are already stepping forward. Curricular revisions at the University of Southern California, for instance, will create significantly more genre integration in its programs.”
