Jenny Ching Yee Wong, DMA, selected to attend Oregon Bach Festival

Jenny Ching Yee Wong, DMA student in Choral Music, has been selected as one of 6-8 conductors worldwide to attend the prestigious Oregon Bach Festival in Eugene, Oregon this summer. For three weeks, Jenny will be studying four major Bach choral-orchestral works and more with Helmuth Rilling and new artistic director Matthew Halls. Jenny will conduct the Festival Orchestra, choruses and soloists in concert in the Discovery Series as well as the Conductors Showcase.

Since 1970, the annual Oregon Bach Festival has boasted participants such as Midori, the Kronos Quartet, conductor and pianist Jeffrey Kahane, musicologist Robert Levin, Baroque specialist Monica Huggett, baritone Thomas Quasthoff and Sarah Chang. Oregon Bach Festival has premiered Penderecki’s Credo, Arvo Part’s Litany, Golijov’s Oceana and the American premiere of Tan Dun’s Water Passion after St. Matthew, and has been named by Wall Street Journal as “one of the world’s leading music festivals.”
