Daily Trojan highlights Live! From Somewhere performance series

The Daily Trojan, USC’s student-led newspaper, recently highlighted USC Thornton’s new video series, Live! From Somewhere. The series was launched on March 16 in response to recent closures and event cancellations, and as the school’s artists have looked for ways to continue making music while social distancing.

Live! From Somewhere presents homemade performances by Thornton students, alumni and faculty, recorded live from their living rooms, bedrooms, patios – wherever our artists find themselves.

“This feels like a way to light up the spirits of both the students and the community through saying we can make music from anywhere, and we have,” Classical Guitar student Nolan Juaire told the Daily Trojan. Juaire performed a piece on classical guitar in the series’ inaugural performance, recorded from the office where he works in Ramo Hall.

USC Thornton Composition student Amelia Horney found out about the series from one of her professors, and shared in Juaire’s appreciation. “The great thing about Thornton is it really embodies Trojan Family,” Horney said. “It’s always been a community and it wasn’t something that was forced. I think it’s really important that we all find ways to stay unified.”
