Music Teaching & Learning

USC Thornton counts among its alumni a multitude of collegiate and public school music educators across the country. These leaders consistently strive for excellence in musicianship and are shaping the field of music education worldwide.

Graduates from the Thornton School continue to be the first choice for professional performing ensembles and schools in search of the finest musicians and teachers. The music teaching and learning program, formerly known as the music education program, offers three degrees: the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Music (not currently accepting applications), the Master of Music in Music Education, and the Doctorate of Musical Arts in Music Education.
