ACADEMICS
Students delve into a rich repertoire of chamber music spanning the classical composers to the present, with ensembles forming organically & under faculty guidance.
There are ample opportunities on local, national, and international levels for coaching, masterclasses and performances, including a regular Chamber Music Festival hosted by USC Thornton. Students are encouraged to develop their performance skills both on-campus and beyond, at venues including the Midnight Mission; Doheny Mansion; the Annenberg Beach House; Rencontres franco-américaines de Musique de Chambre festival; and the annual “Stars of Tomorrow from the USC Thornton School” community concert series.
The Chamber Music program promotes dedication to the skill of collaboration through opportunities at home and abroad.
The annual USC Thornton Chamber Music Festival celebrates the art form at its finest with performances from vocal arts, strings, winds and classical guitar.
Each year, USC Thornton students are selected to perform at the Rencontres franco-américaines de Musique de Chambre festival in the beautiful French countryside.
Chamber Music seminar and masterclass guests have included the Orion String Quartet; Pamela Frank; Arnold Steinhardt; Michael Tree; Clive Greensmith and Paul Katz among others.
