Music Industry

Overview

The USC Thornton Music Industry program prepares students to succeed in a rapidly evolving industry that is largely rooted in the Los Angeles area. The program combines classroom study with technical instruction and hands-on experience for those seeking a career in the music business.

Facets of the program include artist management, the recording industry, music publishing, music supervision, artist branding and marketing, live promotion, production and touring, venue management and data analysis decision making for artists. Students are mentored by faculty that include current and former industry professionals, such as Trudy Green, Kevin Lyman, Mark Goldstein, Michael Garcia, Lindsay Wolfington, Loren Medina, Michael Kaminsky, Vivian Wang and others.

USC Thornton introduced a new Master of Science Degree in Fall 2019, especially-designed for trained musicians who would like to cultivate a career in the fast-changing music industry.
