Trudy Green, associate professor of practice in the USC Thornton Music Industry program, has managed the careers of many top music artists across the globe, such as Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, Perry Farrell, Aerosmith, and many more.
Born in England, Green studied at Queens College in London and earned a degree in Business. After landing her first post-graduation job at Apple Records working for the Beatles, she went on to work for EMI Records before leaving to start her own company, Crunch Promotions.
Green later became head of press and promotions for Fly Records, an independent record label owned by the Essex Music Group. One of the most successful labels in the U.K., Fly Records’ artist roster included T. Rex, Procol Harum, The Move, Joe Cocker, Joan Armatrading, and John Kongos.
Green relocated to Los Angeles to work as publicity director for Gibson and Stromberg, with KISS becoming her first client. She then worked with Irving Azoff at Frontline Management before joining Bob Ellis Management, where she was involved in managing Ronnie Wood, Chaka Khan/Rufus, and Stephen Bishop. Green eventually formed her own management company, Trudy Green Management. Her clients included Stephen Bishop, Al Stewart, and Randy Meisner.
Don Passman, author of All You Want To Know About the Music Business, introduced Green to manager Howard Kaufman of HK Management and they remained partners for over 30 years.
Green has managed A-list artists and personalities, including Heart, Janet Jackson, Mick Jagger, The Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, Aerosmith, Joe Perry, The Hollywood Vampires, Perry Farrell, Janes Addiction, Whitesnake, Slash, Velvet Revolver, Brett Michaels, Sam Kinison, En Vogue, The Fugees, Lauryn Hill, Grace Slick, Jefferson Airplane, Jon Anderson, YES, John Gray (Men are From Mars Women Are from Venus), John Waite, Bad English with John Waite, Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain, Oscar De La Hoya, The Bee Gees, Wilson Phillips, Orianthi, Jay Shetty, Diane Warren, and GOLDN.
Green has her own record label with Kobalt, and GOLDN is the first artist signed to her label. Hailed as the most successful female manager of all time, she is currently finishing her autobiography which will be published in the near future.
